About Us
Our Unique Location
Perched 1800 meters high, Finca Santa Lucía embraces a locale ideal for cultivating unmatched coffee quality. This elevation gifts our beans with distinctive high acidity—a hallmark of our offerings. Encompassing 12 hectares, half of our farm is graced by native oak trees, forming a natural symbiosis of conservation and cultivation.
Resting near Copalchi, a tranquil village bridging San José and Cartago, we fuse rural charm with coffee tradition. Standing at Tarrazú’s border, we embody the region’s reputation, crafting coffee that embodies the pinnacle of taste. Elevated climate variations, coupled with abundant natural springs, shape our beans with the essence of Costa Rica’s landscape.
The climate in Copalchi is refreshingly cool, with temperatures dropping to 9°C during the dry season. Yet, this coolness is constant throughout the year, making it a haven for coffee cultivation. The region is blessed with abundant natural springs and a generous rainfall, which infuse our coffee beans with their distinctive attributes.
Cultivation and Production
Our commitment to quality drives every aspect of our cultivation and production process. Our coffee beans consistently receive high scores of 85 points and above when assessed by Q-Graded coffee tasters. Each batch is a micro lot from a single origin, cultivated with meticulous care. We employ various processing methods including Yellow Honey, Red Honey, natural, and extended fermentation to capture the unique flavors nature has endowed each bean with.
At Finca Santa Lucía, we take pride in our sustainable practices. Our farm is herbicide-free, as we employ manual methods to control unwanted growth. We also steer clear of pesticides to ensure that our coffee thrives in harmony with its environment. Situated at 1850 meters above sea level, our farm’s elevation is instrumental in securing the quality and acidity of our beans. This, coupled with our rigorous attention to detail, ensures that every cup of Finca Santa Lucía coffee is a unique and exceptional experience.
Distinct Varieties and Flavors
Our coffee is exclusively of the Arabica variety, showcasing diverse strains such as Caturra, Costa Rica 95, San Isidro, Millenio, Pacamara, and soon Ghella. Each micro lot undergoes distinct processing methods, resulting in Yellow Honey, Red Honey, natural, and extended fermentation variations. Our commitment to excellence and hands-on approach sets our coffee apart, from plant care to roasting.
